Earning a place on a poetry team takes dedication and work throughout the slam season, as well as a demonstrated commitment to the poetry community and no unresolved violations of our code of conduct at the time of competition.
The Point System
During slam events, points will be awarded based on the following system:
1st place = 5 points
2nd place = 4
3rd place = 3
Everyone else who slams that night = 2
Points are only awarded during the Slam Season from September to April. Slams still happen May - August, but there are no points awarded for slamming.
The top 10 poets of the season will compete in the Grand Slam in April. If applicable, the top 5 winners of the Grand Slam will form a team to compete in regionals/nationals. The 1st place winner will receive a trophy.
